01. Progressive performance
Engine
Engineered to ensure class-leading performance and play a vital role in its agile handling characteristics, all major components and shaft arrangements inside the engine are carefully positioned close to the centre of gravity to reduce the effects of rotational inertia. Positioned in the chassis to further centralise mass, the 250 cc 4-stroke engine is also very light, tipping the scales at just over 27.8 kg.
Cylinder head
Featuring finger followers treated with a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating, the DOHC cylinder head is engineered for high-level enduro performance. For optimal gas flow, the titanium intake valves are 32.5 mm while the exhaust valves are 27.5 mm. This allows the FE 250 to rev freely and produce strong and efficient power throughout its rev-range.
Cylinder and piston
An 81 mm bore cylinder houses a forged bridged-box-type piston made by CP. High-strength aluminium is used to manufacture both the cylinder and piston, with both components professionally engineered for outstanding performance and reliability. The final compression ratio is 14.4:1 for maximum torque and peak power.
Throttle body
The FE 250 features a 42 mm Keihin throttle body optimised for throttle response. The injector is positioned to ensure the most efficient flow into the combustion chamber with the throttle cable mounted directly without a linkage for an enhanced response.
Exhaust
The exhaust system is expertly designed to deliver class-leading performance at the lowest possible weight with the header pipe manufactured in two pieces. This design allows the header pipe to be taken off of the machine without needing to remove the rear shock. Further innovation allows for a short, compact silencer without increasing sound levels. The silencer is crafted from lightweight aluminium and stylishly finished with a black coating to highlight its premium quality.
